As you may have already heard, the Parish of Thurles is looking anew at preparing for the future needs of our community. This is a planning process that is best taken together, talking to one another and listening to each other’s opinions, concerns and hopes for the future. To help begin this journey we extend an open invite to all to come to a “Listening Evening” in The Premier Hall on Tuesday, 8th May at 8pm.
We would hope to see as many people as possible there on the night. This includes active members of the Church, those who occasionally interact with the local Church and those who have disengaged from the Church, but would like to contribute to the future direction of our Parish Community. The wider the range of voices present on the night, the better we can plan to meet the future needs of our people.
We would be very grateful if the groups and organisations of our Parish were represented on the night to air their views of how the Parish might work better for them. It would be wonderful if you could arrange for one or two members of your group to come along on the night and represent your group/ organisation. There will be an opportunity on the night to chat with other people present in an informal and welcoming way. This will ensure that everyone gets a chance to air their opinions, concerns and ideas for the future direction of our Parish.
This Listening Process is taking place in recognition of the need for change. It provides people with the opportunity to be freely involved in deciding what that change is to be. We strongly encourage all to come along on the night and have your say on the future of our Parish Community.
On behalf of The People & Priests Group,
Fr. Jim Purcell & Sean Coffey
