The count down is on. The much-anticipated Christmas Market is happening on Sunday 16th December in Liberty Square, Thurles from 12 to 6pm. So get your Christmas list out and come shopping for the best in local produce and crafts. There is something for everyone including those who are hard to buy for.
The market, which is a much-loved part of the Christmas calendar in Tipperary, is being organised by the Thurles Chamber in association with the Tipperary based animal charity Mo Chara Animal Rescue. There is free parking so get in there and bring your family.
The square will be closed to public traffic from 9.30 until 7pm to allow all our stallholders to unload their Christmas fare. The market offers visitors the opportunity to taste, browse and purchase food products and spot the perfect handcrafted gift, from the huge range of stalls that will line the Square.

Over 50 stalls

Our tastebuds are salivating thinking about Inch House’s array of puddings (the perfect Christmas present for those with a taste for luxury), Cooleeney’s Cheese (perfect for the cheese lover in the family or for your cheese board over Christmas), delicious chilli jam from Beatrice Byrne in Holycross and home-made pesto from Noirin O’Dwyer in Upperchurch. Have you tasted Gosha Delights made in Littleton, the cakes from Liberty Market or Irish Piemontese Beef from Two Mile Borris? You’re in for a delight!
There are amazing local suppliers producing beautiful food which would make the ideal Christmas present. Will we be able to resist? Will we want to? In addition to the local produce, there be tantalizing South African and Turkish foods so come in and experience it.
In addition to the mouth-watering display of food that will be in Liberty Square, there will be a large number of arts and crafts stalls, including basketry displays, woodturning products, silver handcrafted jewellery from Marie Roche in Shanbally, quirky cards from the ant team and knitted goods.
Hayes Hotel are coming to the party by running a free disco for under 13’s during the day (note – children need to be accompanied by adults) – it’s a great way to let the kids burn off their excess energy! Hayes Hotel are also having a special 3 course Christmas dinner for only €15 so come in and make a day of it. As well as the stalls, we have a woodturning demo from Tomas Adlum in Loughmore who’ll amaze you at what he can turn his hands to. The kids and you will be spellbound at what Philip Quinn from Stone Mad in Holycross can make from a variety of materials.

A lot of the local shops are participating by coming out from behind their counters and bring their wares into the square. They’d love to see you there.
Thurles Arts Halloween Festival is sponsoring and running Santa in his grotto so come along and see Santa – it’s only €5 per child.
